FAQ's
How much power does it need?
The 1.5 and 2kW lasers require 220V Single Phase and the 3kw needs 380V 3 phase.
Can I demo the machine?
Yes, we’d be happy to offer a demo at one of our Greater Toronto Area Locations.
Does it require gas like MIG or TIG?
Yes, it does require Argon or Nitrogen just like the MIG or TIG. This is not only to protect the weld pool, but also to cool the lense.
How does the warranty work?
We try to keep 1 of each model on our floor as backup for your machine. In the event yours goes down and needs warranty support that can’t be quickly fixed on your floor, we will deliver our demo and remove your machine and you keep our demo until your machine is fixed and returned.
What is the difference between the Air and Liquid Cooled?
The Air Cooled is much more portable, but isn’t designed to be run full time. If your welders rarely take breaks and the breaks are short, then you’ll want the liquid cooled machine. They are on 6″ wheels so they still port pretty well, but they are much heavier around 400lbs compared the the 150lbs of the air cooled versions.
What materials can it weld?
Pretty much all metals, although depending on the metal you may have trouble finding a filler material. It is mainly used for Aluminum, Steel, Mild and Stainless as well as Copper.
What does the Nitrogen Generator need to operate?
It needs compressed air at 20L/min and 90psi minimum and takes 0.36A at 220V
How many Welders can the Nitrogen Generator Support?
This generator is very small and lightweight and was therefore designed to support only 1 welder at a time. If looking to support multiple welders, contact us to see if using a larger generator makes sense.
How deep can it penetrate?
That’s a tricky question as it is very much material and speed dependant, however we have seen up to 5/16″ aluminum with the 3kW and that’s without tweaking parameters at all.
Can I use my existing weld helmet and goggles for Laser Welding?
No you cannot. Traditional welding emits UV light, whereas Laser Welding emits IR light. This is why AZLO Laser offers a free helmet and goggles with every welder purchase. Using the wrong type of safety gear could cause eye damage or even blindness.
Can I use the same Argon i'm currently buying?
Absolutely. AZLO Laser welders are designed to use the same Argon or Nitrogen you currently purchase from your gas supplier.
Where do I find the filler wire for Laser Welding?
You can use the same wire filler as you would use with any MIG on your Laser, except the flux core. When purchasing your Laser Welder with AZLO Laser, we can also give you guidance on which wire grades work best with Laser Welding.
Can your wire feeder carry a full size roll of wire?
Yes, our feeders are designed to handle up to 20lb spools.
What size gap can the laser fill?
The rule of thumb is the gap should be no larger than the filler wire you are using. Our wire feeders can feed up to 1.6mm 0.063″ wire and we can offer single or double wire feeder, so you could easily fill up to 3.2mm 0.126″ gaps. The laser also has a built in wobble so you don’t need to be trained on weaves to make this happen. The machine will do it for you.
